My friend Lil is Luca’s big sister, and she and I are big Doctor Who fans!
She bought me a River Song bracelet for Christmas, and I gave her and Luca a copy of The Brilliant Book of Doctor Who 2012. In the back of the book was a paper doll…did you know fezzes are cool?
Although sometimes, the Doctor wears a Stetson…
. . . . .
For those of you who aren’t Doctor Who fans, here are some photos of today’s loaves. I made a wreath following these instructions on Teresa’s blog. I used my ciabatta dough and filled it with homemade quince paste and leftover stuffing from Christmas lunch…
And here are two sandwich loaves, made with the same ciabatta dough and baked in lidded tins. I cut each loaf in half and froze them for school holiday lunches…
Are you a Doctor Who fan? We’re all looking forward to the Christmas Special tonight!
I love Doctor Who but everyone here is like Who? Who is Doctor Who? I call my carry on bag The Tardis!! Love this bread. I am so glad you had a good christmas.. I am leaving now making levitating Tardis noises! and poof i am gone.. c
Celi, thank you! Next year, maybe there needs to be a mini Tardis on the Christmas tree with the Enterprise? ;-)
Love it. Peter and I will be glued to the set!
Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, Lizzy!
Just watched last year’s special from last night.. Michael Gambon was fabulous!
and don’t forget, bow-ties are cool…..
L & L, all three Christmas specials were brilliant this year! It was nice of the ABC to replay the ones from the last two years for us.. :)
Merry Christmas! I found your blog a little while ago and love it. Had to comment today though – we are huge Dr Who fans – the highlight of Boxing Day! And we highly approve of dressing up the Doctor. Love it!
Claire, thanks for popping in! I think last night’s Chrissie special might have been the best yet, although they’re always very good!
Can’t remember the last time I saw a paper doll. The bread looks great. Merry Christmas xxx
Thanks Cindy! Hope you had a fabulous weekend!
no Im afraid not, but your loaves look magnificent
Thanks Tania! More bread in the oven as I type!
Enjoy the public holiday today! :)
I’m a big fan of the Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory. I love Rose, Mickey, Martha, and Donna… and Donna’s Dad. He’s awesome. On my ringtone for the boy it says, “Stormaggedon”
I’m not so hot on River Song but that’s okay. I’m sure she’s going to regenerate into someone better. :-)
Happy Boxing Day!
Maz
Oooh Maz, River’s not going to regenerate any more. I LOVE her, she’s so tough! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! :)
And Bow ties are cool. :-)
Oh… I so am out of the loop when it comes to Dr. Who… but I love bow ties and your bread, does that count?
Smidge, absolutely! And thank you! :)
I just lurve Doctor Who. I’m working my way through series 6 again. Looking forward to seeing the Christmas special that was shown in the UK last night.
Wasn’t it great? :) I think Matt Smith is my favourite Doctor yet, but then again, I said that about DT when he was in the role..
We’re Dr Who fans here too, although I’m not a big fan of the current regeneration. This year’s Christmas Special was very sweet!
I’ve yet to plan what to do with my leftovers, but your wreath looks very tasty.
Suelle, the ABC are now replaying all of the new series from the start, so I’ll get a chance to catch up on all of them again…
The wreath loaf looks fantastic Celia. Very festive! I hope you had a fabulous Christmas.
Thanks Claire! Hope yours was wonderful too! x
Enjoyed the Christmas Dr. Who yesterday here in Wales..
Caroline, we loved it here in Sydney too! :)
Without spoling it, it is a very watery special ;) Hope you enjoy it. lovely bread! Xx
You didn’t spoil it, and it was wonderful! And thank you for the link to Teresa’s recipe, it worked really well as a savoury – a bit like a Christmas sausage roll.. :) xxx
What great presents! We continued our tradition of finishing up our Christmas meal by eating dessert while watching the Doctor Who Christmas Special. Brilliant as always!
Kate, wasn’t it grand? I’m going to get a cup of tea and watch it again this morning.. ;-)
Not here, I’m afraid Celia. We never watch it.
But I’m a big fan of delicious wreath-shaped breads! XXX
Gill! Merry Christmas, my dear friend! Hope you’ve had a good one! xxx
Argh, I can’t wait to see the Christmas special. I think there was something about a nice loaf of bread in this post, but now all I can concentrate on is Dr. Who!
Greg, you’re a man after my own heart, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Princess Bride… ;-) Hope you’ve had a chance to see the Christmas special, it was great!
Big Dr. Who fan from the past- it is hard to find the episodes up to date, here.
(or at least with our cable system)- the wreath is gorgeous!)
Heidi, did you end up making the wreath as well? It worked well as a foil for leftover stuffing! :)
I made it today for Boxing day- didn’t get a chance to take a picture- it disappeared before I could find my camera!
Filled it with apples, cinnamon, cardamom and pecans- it was delicious!
What gorgeous bread indeed! I’m not a huge Dr fan sorry, my big sister used to love it, but whenever she made me watch it with her I’d get terrible nightmares:( maybe it’s time to face my fears- after all, I do envy him his TARDIS!
I always wanted TARDIS luggage, like Celi… ;-)
I love your wreath loaf Celia, sounds heavenly! Merry Christmas (albeit a little late).
:-) Mandy xo
My husband & I are also dr. Who fans! We watch it on the BBC!
Y
our festive round stuffed bread looks amazing, dear Celia! Yummie! :)
Mandy, Sophie, thank you! All the best for 2012!
